Summary[]
Bluelake is an important town in its region before it became a battleground and was wiped off the map. The eminent Bluelakes oversaw its development starting in the colonial era, and its intermediate position between the North and South eventually made it a key trading post. As the region is a strategic point connecting the North and South, it naturally became a target during the War, and at the onset of the conflict the Northern Army was stationed there and built a fort nearby.
However, when the battle front moved north and it was feared that the ravages of war would engulf the town, the army chose to stop the townsfolk from evacuating. They persisted in keeping the townsfolk in check (despite repeated warnings from the Southern Army) as a mechanism to safeguard the base by making the Southerners reluctant to bombard the town. Residents trusted the Northern Army's assurances and stayed with their land, belongings and immovable assets, unware that they were courting a tragedy in which most townsfolk would be exposed to the South's gunfire, unable to flee. The Southern Army, having decided that they had given the town sufficient warning and time to evacuate, commenced bombardment. Records show that persistent shelling continued around clock for days, to smoke out the soldiers who hid in civilian homes. The town was reduced to cinders, masses of civilians perishing alongside soldiers, while the scarce survivors abandoned the town and scattered in various directions as the Northern Army retreated, and settled in cities and villages that had not been engulfed by the flames of war. Even after the peace agreement, there has been no prospects for restoring Bluelake Town to its former existence. Only the ravaged wasteland of rubble remains. Except Hank Henriette and Elaine Bluelake who survived the war, there is no any survivors was keep living in BlueLake town.[1]
