Edgar Beckford (エドガー ・ベックフォード , Edogā Bekkufōdo) is a Basilisk Incarnate and member of Incarnate Soldier Unit during the War.

Abilities

The main ability of the Basilisk is its poison generation ability. While there are several Incarnates that can produce poison(like Hydra, Fafnir, and Cockatrice), only the Basilisk can produce such complex venoms with effects on once's mind and perception.

Enhance Durability: The Basilisk has reptilian skin. Parts of the skin are hardened and not easy to damage, but it's not especially notable for its endurance

Enhance Agility and Strength: The Basilisk can easily jump between house while holding an adult human.

Poison Generation: The Basilisk can generate a variety of poisons. Its poisons can be classified into 2 categories: hallucinatory poison and instantly-active nerve poison. The hallucinatory poison oozes from the surface of its body and diffuse into the air, and a light sniff of it is enough to throw human's consciousness into confusion, create the illusion that whatever they are trying to focus on is not there. The instantly-active nerve poison oozes from its tear ducts. This poison is transparent and is easily absorbed by mucous membranes. It can be inhaled into the lungs and enter through the eyes. The poison induces prompt stiffening of the muscles throughout the body, and with sufficient doses can lead to heart failure. The Basilisk can also generate hemorrhagic venom, but it was not used in the war given its lack of instant effect.

Color Changing: The Basilisk's exterior has the ability to change its coloration to blend into its environments. This ability, combine with the hallucinatory poison, create a strange impression that the Basilisk can turn invisible.

Manga History

After the war, like many other Incarnates, the Basilisk start attacking people to survive. One day, he meet a former Southern Soldier named Weasel, who was used as a lab rat for chemical experiment and gained great poison resistance. Together, they scam several villages so that the villagers run away, and the duo can get all the money and food. During one of the scam, however, he meet Hank Henriette who have come to hunt the Basilisk for stealing from people. Weasel beg for the Basilisk's life and tell Hank his backstory, then spit blood on him. Using the chance, the duo escape and run to the west.
