Summary[]
Schaal, who was following Hank, recalled the scene where her father was killed. As she was walking with Hank, a coachman pulling a carriage asked if they wanted to take a carriage. Schaal and Hank agreed, The carriage drove on and the driver explained to them. Recently, an Incarnate has built a massive labyrinthine fortress appeared in a town called Rouge Hill, so Hank and Schaal decided to go to Rouge Hill to find out.
When Hank and Schaal arrived at Rouge Hill, they found a huge fortress. At this time, Liza, the military intelligence officer who assisted Hank, was waiting for Hank's arrival. She introduced Schaal and asked if she was lost. Schaal deny this immediately. After Liza waited for Hank's answer, she asked Hank about dealing with the fortress. Lisa explains to Hank and Schaal at the hotel that the fortress was built by an Incarnate Minotaur. According to the army's intelligence, Minotaur began to build a fortress after returning from the war. Even though the Minotaur built the fortress, it almost tore the city apart, so they had to stop the Minotaur before the situation got difficult. Schaal thought they could convince the Minotaur to stop him from building the fortress in other ways. At this time, the Minotaur steps onto a balcony and declares to the city the time for war is nigh, unable to accept the war is over. Hank decides that he will go find the Minotaur tonight, and Liza takes Schaal to the tent refugee camp and explains that because the Minotaur built the fortress, the people nearby became refugees.
Liza then took out the small leather bag filled with bullets that Hank had asked her to prepare. Lisa told Schaal that although the Incarnates were once the ones that ended the war, now they have turned into beasts and caused problems that need to be dealt with urgently. Since there is currently no plan or antidote to turn the Incarnates back into humans, they can only be hit with weapons. Liza explained that the avatar cannot be shot with ordinary bullets, so it must be done with Godkiller bullets. Liza explained that these bullets they made are imitations and cannot be compared with the real ones, but have enough lethality to kill incarnates. Liza said she wanted to understand how Hank felt when he used these bullets to kill incarnates. Because the only person who can understand the incarnate is the incarnate.
That night, Schaal was thinking about Hank in the shower. At this time, Hank woke up from dreaming about his past while sleeping and find Schaal had not yet tied her pigtails. Schaal discovered that Hank seemed to have said something but she didn't want to continue questioning him. After finding the Godkiller bullets Lisa gave him, Hank loaded these bullets into his pistol and took Schaal into the fortress. When Schaal followed Hank, he was surprised when he saw that many people who broke into the fortress were killed in traps, and once touched the mechanism, so Hank had to help her escape from the mechanism. Schaal asked Hank what kind of people the Minotaur was. At that time, Hank knew how the incarnate of the Minotaur Theo was afraid of everything, including the fear of death. At that time on the battlefield, Hank comforted Theo that he was also afraid of the battlefield, but as long as they were prepared to fight, they did not have to be afraid of everything. As Hank walks through the passage, the portcullis falls between them, Hank tells Schaal that she must find a mechanism to open the portcullis if she is to continue forward.
Liza, who was following closely behind, appeared at this time. Liza knew that Hank asked her to take Schaal away because Schaal would be in danger if she continued to follow Hank. However, Schaal did not agree because she had to know Hank's reason to killing her father. Later, Liza helped Schaal find the mechanism of the portcullis and open it. At the same time, Hank arrived at the center of the maze and found Theo. Theo, who became extremely paranoid, welcomed Hank's arrival and said that "enemies" were everywhere, seemingly looking for opportunities to kill him. Hank picked up his weapon and tell Theo that he is his "enemy". Theo decided that Hank was his "enemy" and started a fight with him. Liza and Schaal, who were following Hank, sensed the movement and rushed to the scene. Schaal asked Lisa whether Hank was an incarnate, because she found that Hank looked no different from ordinary humans. When Lisa and Schaal arrived at the scene, they find Hank falling due to Theo's attack.
When Theo picked up an ax to attack Hank. Schaal begged Theo to stop attacking, but Liza explained to Schaal that her attempt was in vain because Theo had lost his mind, but in Hank's condition, he would not be easily defeated, Hank began to change soon after catching Theo's axe. Lisa explained that Hank was one of the few who exerted his true incarnate power at night, and Hank's incarnate was Werewolf who called " the God of War". Hank transform into a werewolf injured Theo's cheek. Theo started the mechanism in fear and told him that no matter how big a fortress he built, he could not get rid of his fear. He asked Hank whether he had to be more prepared to end his fear. Hank tells Theo that he will help him end it, so Hank knocks Theo to the ground with his claws. Afterwards, Theo, who fell to the ground, felt a little relieved that Hank had helped him gain relief and redemption. Hank told Theo that he could rest easy, so he shot the dead Theo with a godkiller bullet. When Schaal looked at Hank's sad expression, she gradually felt his mood and feelings. Schaal remember that when Hank shot her father, her father showed reassuring eyes. she also discovered that many incarnates had been killed by Hank, they all did not blame him, but expressed their sad last words. Schaal really wanted to know whether her father was really complaining about Hank killing him, and she also wants to know what her father said to Hank and entrusted him with what was most important to him.
In the Union's capital Newfort , Captain Claude, leader of the Incarnate Extermination Squad "Coup de Grace" who had just dealt a fatal blow to an unknown Incarnate of an incarnation, and His troops were cheered by the people in the streets, while the president and senior officials watched the return of Coup de Grace . Gerald, the deputy leader of "Coup de Grace" told Claude that he should not face the people with a serious expression. Claude explained that he would not smile until they had hunted all the Incarnates. It seems that there is some reason why Claude prioritized the mission of hunting all the Incarnates. On the other hand, Cain who disappeared for a long time during the war and are the people Hank is looking for, stay with a white-haired child look a photos of Hank and Schaal who are follow him. Cain was sarcastic that Hank was still receiving destiny's attention, and he looked forward to seeing Hank and Schaal arrive.
