Francis Wells (フランシス・ウェルズ, Furanshisu Weruzu) is a Griffin Incarnate and member of Incarnate Soldier Unit during the War. He is also Faun’s father.

Appearance

In his Incarnate form, he is a hybrid between a lion and a eagle. While the real Griffin actually have 4 legs, the front is lion's while the back is eagle's, his Incarnate form only have the back legs of the lion, while the front leg was merged with the wings.

Personality

He was a stubborn and greedy old man, but love his mine and Coatwalls a lot, to the point he would sacrifice himself for it as he volunteered to join the war to protect it. He also love his daughter Faun a lot even when he turned into Incarnate and confronted her, he could not attack her.

During the war, he is a trusted companion as he still remain mentally stable and always follow orders even though he can't talk. After the war, however, he reduced to that of a mere beast and he has lost all of his sanity.

Abilities

Enhanced Strength: His lower body of a lion is powerful. One kick of it can be fatal to human. His beak and talons are also vicious, and his wings is a fearsome threat.

Enhanced Durability: His feathers provide protection against bullets and firearms.

Flight: He is capable of flight to an extent. It is more suitable to say that he leap and glide rather than flies, as his lower body is too heavy for a stable flight.

Night-vision: His large eyes are notably keen and well-suited for aerial scouting. His night vision is particularly good, but doesn't do well in daylight. Beside, His eyes cannot withstand bright light attacks such as flashbangs.

Enhanced Agility: Though his body is large, his lion legs allow him to pounce with explosive force, and his wings act as a rudder, providing him with unexpected mobility. Precision turns may be beyond his capability, though.

History

Past

Francis Wells build the mine and the town all by himself. Even when people has doubt, he still do it and succeed in finding the gold mines. However, his wife left him, and he is abusive to his workers make his daughter Faun was dissatisfaction and anger. When the war was come, the government make him choose between his mine or become an Incarnate. He become the Incarnate Griffin, but the North still take his mine regardless. Before he left, he left behind a letter for his daughter Faun along with the document of the mine ownership in a vault. During the war, he complained to Hank about how unjust the government is and how much his town and family need him, then asked Hank to deliver his birthday gift for his daughter Faun, the key to the vault.

Whitechurch, New Patria and Bold Creek

Francis is one the many Incarnates who follow Cain. He crashes the Whitechurch gala and killing the participant together with the other Incarnates. Francis was with Cain and the other Incarnates when Cain declare the birth of the Free Nation of New Patria. After Cain dispatching Miles Byron of Centaurus Incarnate to serve as a guard at Bold Creek Fort to diversion the attention of the government troops while to take over and occupying the Southern Capital, He brought Francis to the North capital Newfort with Priscilla of Orge Incarnate to meet the President.

Coatwalls

After New Patria turned Coal Wall into a Divine Protectorate, Francis was sent with a platoon of New Patria to take over the mine. They chase out Faun and her followers, then force the miners to work like slaves. Francis will "dispose" of any miners who is not working or who is unwell and asks for a break. When the Faun Gang attack and blew up the mine, Francis only stood there, doing nothing. The next day, Francis continue to observe as the Free Patria's soldiers were monitoring and urging the miners to work to repair the damage that was made by the Faun Gang.

When the Faun Gang along with Hank and Schaal launch an attack on the New Patria's soldiers, he was flying to the watchtower. The Faun Gang successfully get his attention, then blinded him briefly with a flare, making him falling and lead him into the town. They buy time for Hank to kill the other New Patria's soldiers , then Faun lead Francis to a place that is full of coal dust. Hank then appear, and he engage in battle with Francis. Hank and Schaal use the coal dust to burn Francis, after Faun said her final farewell to her father Francis, Hank shoot Francis with the Godkiller bullet.
