Summary

This event became a major incident in the history of the post-War era, alongside the Birth of New Patria and the Tragedy of Whitechurch. A shocking rumor-that every last resident of the town of Bold Creek was killed took the continent like wildfire, repeated with all sorts of speculation and anxieties. New Patria loudly decried the atrocities of the Northern Union, claiming they were on the side of justice. The North, meanwhile, brushed this aside as entirely baseless, and pinned the horrific act on the the New Patrian Incarnates working to silence witnesses.

Soldiers who were present on the battlefield tell a dubious tale that the dead rose to riot and attack them, but of course the dead left in Bold Creek do not move not unusual in wartime for people in various positions to claim different things, but the lack of survivors, not even women, children or the elderly, can hardly be called normal. In any case, the end of this remote town left the North with a dark victory and restlessness, the South with boiling anger and fear- and both sides with indelibly deep doubts.
